The symposium will bring together scholars from a wide range of disciplines who are interested in sharing their expertise about language attitudes and in discussing and comparing their empirical and theoretical findings. We aim to reach a synergy of perspectives and approaches that emphasize the role of language attitudes in the face of situations that emerge in intergroup encounters involving Spanish, Portuguese, related languages (in the broadest sense), and different linguistic practices.
El simposio reunirá a académicos de una amplia gama de disciplinas interesados en compartir sus conocimientos sobre actitudes lingüísticas y en discutir y comparar sus hallazgos empíricos y teóricos. Nuestro objetivo es alcanzar una sinergia de perspectivas y enfoques que enfaticen el papel de las actitudes lingüísticas frente a situaciones que emergen en encuentros intergrupales que involucran español, portugués, lenguas afines (en el sentido más amplio) y prácticas lingüísticas diferentes.
O simpósio reunirá estudiosos de uma ampla gama de disciplinas interessados em compartilhar seus conhecimentos sobre atitudes linguísticas e discutir e comparar suas descobertas empíricas e teóricas. Nosso objetivo é alcançar uma sinergia de perspectivas e abordagens que enfatizem o papel das atitudes linguísticas diante de situações que emergem em encontros intergrupais que envolvem espanhol, português, línguas afins (no sentido mais amplo) e diferentes práticas linguísticas.
